Pita (recipe)
Pita is a traditional dish in the Balkans, known for its crispy crust and rich filling. Here's how you can make cheese pita at home.Ingredients:
- 500 g thin phyllo dough
- 400 g cheese (feta or cottage cheese)
- 3 eggs
- 200 ml yogurt
- 100 ml oil
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Salt to taste
Preparation:
- In a large bowl, mix the cheese, eggs, yogurt, oil, and baking powder. Add a little salt to taste.
- Place one sheet of phyllo dough on the work surface, spread it with the cheese mixture, and cover it with another sheet. Repeat the process until you use up all the sheets and mixture.
- Roll the sheets into a roll and place them in a greased baking pan.
- Brush with the remaining cheese and egg mixture.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30-40 minutes until the pita is golden brown.
- Let the pita cool slightly before cutting and serving.
