Manti (recipe)
Manti are traditional Central Asian steamed dumplings with a meat filling. Learn how to make them at home.Ingredients:
- 500 g beef or lamb
- 2 onions
- 2 garlic cloves
- 500 g flour
- 200 ml water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 100 g vegetable oil
Preparation:
- Prepare the dough: mix the flour, water, and a pinch of salt. Knead until smooth, cover, and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the filling: finely chop the meat, onion, and garlic. Mix with vegetable oil, salt, and pepper.
- Roll out the dough into a thin sheet and cut out circles about 10 cm in diameter.
- Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle and pinch the edges to form manti.
- Arrange the manti in a steamer and cook for about 40 minutes.
- Serve hot, with sour cream or yogurt sauce.
